Stress can make life feel like something to get through. Therapy can help you make sense of the pressure, recover more fully and feel more like yourself again.
hypnotherapy for stress
You may have tried taking time off, slowing down where you can, getting through the to-do list or simply pushing on. It may have helped briefly, but before long the pressure begins building again.
Perhaps you’re still keeping everything moving – work, family, clients, responsibilities and everyone else’s needs – while feeling very different underneath. Or perhaps stress is already making it harder to cope with things you would usually manage.
When stress becomes constant, it can be easy to lose sight of how much it is costing you: tension, irritability, restless sleep, difficulty concentrating or the feeling that you’re always behind, however much you do.
Therapy for stress isn’t about simply telling you to relax. It helps you understand what is keeping the pressure going, find ways to recover and respond differently – even when the demands themselves cannot immediately change.
This is where you start feeling like yourself again.
hypnotherapy for stress
Most people expect stress to pass once a busy period, difficult situation or demanding few weeks are over. Sometimes it does. But when pressure continues without enough opportunity to recover, your mind and body can remain on alert.
You may feel tired but unable to switch off. Your mind keeps planning, anticipating and trying to stay ahead, while your body remains tense even when you have finally stopped for the day.
You might become more irritable, find it harder to concentrate or start relying on anything that offers quick relief. Even small demands can begin to feel like too much.
These aren’t signs that you’re failing to cope. They are understandable responses to carrying too much for too long, and a sign that something needs to change.
Stress is a normal response that helps your mind and body prepare for something important, demanding or urgent. In short bursts, it can sharpen your attention, give you energy and help you deal with what is in front of you.
It becomes a problem when the demands continue, the pressure feels greater than your ability to manage it or there isn’t enough time to recover. Over time, this can affect your sleep, concentration, mood, relationships, health and confidence in what you can handle.
Therapy cannot remove every demand from your life, but it can help you understand what is adding to the pressure, change how you respond and create more opportunity to recover.
Stress doesn’t always settle as soon as the immediate pressure eases. After carrying too much for a while, some of the ways you have learned to cope can keep your mind and body working overtime.
You may replay conversations, run through worst-case scenarios or keep planning in an attempt to feel more in control. It can look productive while making it harder for your mind to switch off.
Putting something off can bring immediate relief when you already feel overwhelmed. But the unfinished task remains, often with added worry, pressure or loss of confidence.
You may finally sit down while your mind continues working. Stress can disturb sleep, and poor sleep can then leave you with less energy and patience to handle the following day.
When one demand follows another, there may be very little opportunity to pause, enjoy yourself or properly recover. Eventually, even smaller demands can begin to feel difficult.
I bring together evidence-based approaches, choosing each one for a clear reason based on what is keeping stress going and what you need help with.

Your plan will focus on how stress is affecting your life and what you would like to be different. Depending on what you need, therapy can help you:
A six-session programme gives us time to understand what is keeping stress going, reduce pressure where possible and develop ways of responding and recovering that you can continue using after therapy.
We explore what has been happening, how stress is affecting your mind, body and life, and what you would like to change. This gives us a clear understanding of where to focus our work.
We focus on what will help you most. This may include responding differently to pressure, recognising when stress is building, improving rest and recovery, setting boundaries or practising ways to settle your mind and body. We’ll review what is changing as we go and adapt our work when needed.
This includes your 90-minute assessment followed by five 60-minute sessions. You can pay in full or in two payments of £300.
Booked individually, the same sessions would cost £750, so the programme saves you £150.
Prefer to book session by session?
A 90-minute assessment costs £150 and subsequent 60-minute therapy sessions cost £120 each.
You’ll have your own private space inside the Your Mind Works app, where your personalised resources, guided audios, exercises, journal prompts and practices are kept together and easy to find.
Between sessions, you can return to the ideas we’ve discussed, practise new skills and listen to any audios I’ve chosen or created for you. If it’s helpful, you can also share reflections before we meet, allowing us to use our session time more effectively.
The app is there to support the work we’re doing, not give you more to keep up with. Use what helps, when it helps.

psychologist, integrative psychotherapist + coach
Psychology has been at the heart of my work for more than 25 years, helping people understand themselves, feel better and make changes that matter in their lives.
Stress has been an important focus throughout my training and career. My MSc in Health Psychology included extensive study of how stress affects the mind, body, behaviour and health. I also hold a Diploma in Stress Management and Resilience, accredited by the International Stress Management Association (ISMA).
I also know personally how easily running a business, caring for a family and keeping everything moving can leave too little room to recover, even when much of what fills your time is important to you.
My approach is warm, engaging and down to earth. We’ll look at both the pressures you’re facing and what is keeping stress going, then focus on reducing what can be changed, responding differently to what cannot and creating more opportunity to recover.
The aim is for you to understand stress more clearly and leave with skills you can continue using long after our sessions end.
When stress, pressure or self-doubt start to take over, it can be hard to think clearly or feel like yourself.
This guided audio gives you a simple way to slow down, breathe, settle your mind and reconnect with confidence.
There isn’t one type of therapy that is best for everyone experiencing stress. We begin by understanding what is creating pressure, what is keeping stress going and how it is affecting you.
I integrate Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy and coaching psychology. Each approach has a clear purpose, and I’ll explain what we’re using and why.
Hypnotherapy can be helpful for stress when it is used as part of a wider therapeutic approach rather than as a standalone technique.
Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy uses focused attention, imagery, suggestion and mental rehearsal to help you practise different responses to pressure, worry and situations that usually leave you tense or overwhelmed. You can also learn self-hypnosis skills to use between sessions.
Short-term stress usually rises in response to a particular demand and settles afterwards. With ongoing or chronic stress, you may rarely feel as though you fully switch off or recover.
You might feel tired but wired, irritable, easily overwhelmed or unable to relax. Stress can also affect sleep, concentration, digestion, muscle tension and your ability to manage ordinary demands.
New, persistent or concerning physical symptoms should also be discussed with your GP.
During Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy, you remain aware and involved throughout. Hypnosis doesn’t make you unconscious or take away your control, and you can speak, move, pause or stop at any time.
Hypnotherapy is suitable for many people, but not everyone. Before we begin, we’ll discuss your health, what you’re experiencing and whether it would be an appropriate approach for you.
It makes sense to feel cautious about trying again. Previous therapy may not have used an approach, focus or pace that worked for you at that time.
My approach includes clear psychological explanations, active skills practice and ways to continue between sessions. Your consultation gives you a chance to ask questions and understand how we would work before deciding whether to continue.
Yes. Online stress therapy is available across the UK, allowing you to join from a private space at home.
In-person sessions are available in North Warwickshire, within easy reach of Tamworth, Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Burton upon Trent.
Most people begin with six sessions: a 90-minute in-depth assessment followed by five 60-minute sessions. The programme costs £600, payable in full or in two payments of £300.
Some people may benefit from further sessions, depending on what they need. We’ll discuss this before beginning and review it together as we go.
You don’t need to wait until stress feels unbearable before asking for help.
If it is affecting your sleep, concentration, mood, health, work, relationships or ability to enjoy your life, it is reasonable to take it seriously. A free 30-minute consultation gives us a chance to talk about what is happening and what you would like to change

I’ve always felt very relaxed, comfortable & confident.
Safe in your hands.
I felt really supported throughout and you explained everything really thoroughly and really clearly. I have definitely achieved what I wanted to, with a difference in my ability to relax and to be less worried about things. The biggest change for me is having the courage to be more assertive. I have found therapy has just helped massively. All the different aspects, working step-by-step to get a solution, getting clarity on my thoughts, the audios are just brilliant and the relaxation exercises have all been hugely beneficial too. I always felt very relaxed, comfortable and confident. Safe in your hands. Thank you. It has been amazing. I would absolutely recommend Lucy.

I feel like the weight that was keeping me down has gone.
I have been experiencing quite a bit of pain and discomfort, and the practices and hypnosis have helped me release a lot of tension and especially the pain in my shoulder. I feel like the weight that was keeping me down has gone. I have been beating myself up about not doing enough, and feel I should always be doing something – so knowing it’s okay to just stop and rest was what I needed.

When I’m in hypnosis, it’s so relaxing.
This was the first time I’ve experienced hypnotherapy, and it was different to what I expected, although I wasn’t quite sure what to expect to be honest! I have been anxious a lot lately, and holding a lot of tension I wasn’t even aware of. I have learnt a lot about relaxation, using my imagination and how to stop struggling with thoughts. When I’m in hypnosis, it’s so relaxing. Your voice is very rhythmical and soothing, which is lovely.

Knowing that my mind is just doing things that normal minds do has helped me a lot.
Understanding more about myself and knowing that my mind is just doing things that normal minds do has helped me a lot. I’m now much more patient with myself and know what to do when I start to feel anxious. It’s helped me make sense of so many things. I realised I had more ability to cope than I thought, but I needed help learning how to use those skills in the situations I needed them most. I feel much more confident, and learning self-hypnosis has been really helpful.
