Welcome

I created Your Mind Works to bring psychology into real life. A place where you can understand yourself better, look after your wellbeing and keep growing, whatever life looks like right now.

You may be here because stress, anxiety, poor sleep, chronic pain or something else is making life harder than it needs to. Or maybe you want to understand yourself better, learn mindfulness, find new ways to look after your wellbeing or enjoy more of the life you’re living.

Whatever brings you here, and wherever you’re starting from, you’re welcome.

This is your Space.

You shouldn’t have to choose between doing well and feeling well.

When your mind works with you, both become possible.

There are different ways to begin, from one-to-one therapy and coaching to ongoing wellbeing and personal growth through The Membership.

About Lucy

Psychology has been at the heart of my work for more than 25 years, across therapy, education and business. Although the settings have changed, the thread running through it all has remained the same: helping people understand themselves, feel better and make changes that matter in their lives.

My MSc in Health Psychology deepened my understanding of how our minds, bodies, behaviour and experiences interact, particularly in relation to stress, long-term health conditions and chronic pain. My postgraduate research explored the experiences of people living with fibromyalgia. Alongside my studies, I worked within an NHS multidisciplinary pain-management team, supporting research into long-term-condition care and using cognitive behavioural approaches to support people living with chronic pain.

I went on to found Island Equus, an equine-assisted therapy and alternative-education centre that brought together psychology, education and my lifelong love of horses. For ten years, we supported children and young people with SEND, those in care and those experiencing emotional or behavioural difficulties. My connection with the equestrian world remains part of my work today, and I still enjoy helping riders with confidence, performance and personal growth.

Understanding your mind can change how you feel, what you do and what becomes possible next.

Alongside my psychology and therapy work, I’ve spent years as an entrepreneur and have helped other health and wellbeing professionals develop their businesses, services and courses. My understanding of behaviour change was an important part of that work: not only sharing good information, but creating experiences that people could genuinely engage with and use.

This mix of experience has shown me that psychology can make a difference in almost every part of life. Whether I’m working with an individual, a group or an organisation, I help people understand what’s happening, handle pressure, change what is no longer working and move forward with greater confidence.

I also understand what it’s like to fit your wellbeing around a full life. I’m a mum, I home educate my daughter and I run a business, alongside all the other responsibilities that come with work and family life.

Your Mind Works brings all of this together through one-to-one support, specialist programmes, courses, live events and The Membership: different ways to understand your mind, look after your wellbeing and keep growing throughout life.

MY approach

and values

01

Knowledge

Understanding changes things. Years of study, training and experience help me make psychology clear, engaging and relevant to real life, so you can make sense of yourself, see new possibilities and know what you can do next.

02

Authenticity

Life works better when your choices feel like your own. Authenticity means understanding what matters to you, questioning the things you think you should be doing and creating a life that feels more like you.

03

Freedom

Freedom means having more choice in how you respond and what you do next, even when life is difficult. The things you’re carrying don’t have to make every decision or stop you building the life you want.

04

Growth

Growth isn’t about constantly fixing or improving yourself. It’s about continuing to learn, trying new things and discovering what becomes possible when you understand yourself better.

05

Courage

Courage isn’t the absence of fear or doubt. It’s doing what matters while those feelings are there – asking for support, trying something new, speaking up or taking the next step before you feel completely ready.
