For home educated young people + teens
Most adults were never really taught how their mind works.
Let's change that.
So many adults only begin trying to understand their mind when something has already become difficult. I’m Lucy, a psychologist, therapist, mindfulness teacher and home educating mum. I created these classes to give young people that understanding earlier, so they can make sense of themselves, build confidence and learn essential skills they can use throughout life.
You want your young person to be able to do the things that matter to them, whether that’s feeling more confident socially, doing the things they love or working towards a future goal. I bring psychology to life to help them take the next step towards the things they really want.
Real psychology, brought to life
We explore famous experiments, surprising research and brilliant questions about why people think, feel and behave as they do, making psychology interesting and enjoyable.
Ideas connected to their world
We connect psychology to friendships, emotions, decisions, social media and other situations young people recognise, showing how these ideas appear in their own world.
Looking at things differently
Young people examine evidence, consider different points of view and develop their own ideas, building confidence to question, discuss and think independently.
Helping minds make more sense
Understanding what the brain and body are doing can make thoughts, feelings and reactions less confusing, easier to understand and easier to talk about.
Our home education classes run in short courses and individual classes throughout the year, covering both psychology and wellbeing topics. You can find out more on our upcoming classes page.
the mind and human behaviour
Psychology is the study of why we think, feel and behave the way we do. In these classes, we explore real research, interesting experiments and the science of human behaviour, from memory and perception to decision-making, social media and influence. Young people begin to notice more, ask better questions and think independently.

Some topics align with AQA Unit Awards and GCSE Psychology. These are not qualification courses, but it may be helpful to know that parts of the content align.

Understanding + skills for life
Mind + Wellbeing classes help young people understand themselves, make sense of their thoughts and emotions and build skills they can use throughout life. Sessions are friendly and engaging, with questions, activities and discussions connected to situations young people recognise.
We also make space for bigger questions about happiness, identity, values and what it means to live well.

Classes are for home-educated young people aged around 11–16, although the right fit depends more on the individual than their exact age.
Your young person may already be interested in psychology, or they may want to better understand themselves or build confidence with something that matters to them. Others will simply see a class and think, I want to know how that works.
Some young people enjoy discussing, sharing ideas and asking questions. Others prefer to listen, use the chat or join in more quietly. Everyone is welcome to participate in the way that suits them best.
Different ways of thinking, learning and taking part are welcome. If your young person is neurodivergent or has additional learning needs, I’m happy to discuss any support or adjustments that may help before you book.
Classes run live on Zoom in a warm, relaxed group. I lead every session myself, with space to listen, ask questions or join the conversation, but no one is ever put on the spot.
Classes are relaxed, with time for young people to think, explore and contribute in their own way. If your young person feels unsure about joining a group, you can try out one of our free sessions first, and parents are always welcome to sit in if it helps.
I will also share resources and further reading when they are useful, so young people can go deeper into the topics that interest them most.

Meet Lucy
I’m a psychologist, integrative therapist and mindfulness teacher with 25 years of experience. For over a decade, I ran a specialist alternative education provision, offering educational and therapeutic support for children and young people. This included children in care, young carers, young people with SEND and those who needed additional support with their emotional wellbeing.
Through working with young people for whom mainstream education had not worked, I saw how much difference the learning environment can make. Young people are more able to take part when they feel comfortable, understood and genuinely interested in what they’re learning.
I’ve worked alongside schools and home educating families for many years, and home educated my own daughter for the past six years. So I know how much it matters to find learning that feels flexible, meaningful and right for your child.
I created these classes because I wanted home educated young people to have access to thoughtful psychology and wellbeing learning, to understand their minds, explore ideas and discover more of what they can do.

Classes take place live on Zoom, so your young person will need a device they can use to join the session and somewhere reasonably quiet. A notebook and pen can be useful too.
Any resources or worksheets will be sent via email, if anything else is needed to bring along it will be in the session or course details.
Most classes are designed for young people aged around 11 to 16, but some courses or individual classes may be suitable for slightly different ages. The recommended age range will always be shown in the course or class details.
The right fit depends more on the young person than their exact age, so if you are unsure, you are welcome to ask before booking.
Yes. Some classes cover GCSE Psychology topics, including memory, perception, social influence etc, research methods and key studies.
They are not GCSE courses and do not replace a formal qualification, but they can help young people build confidence with the subject, understand key ideas early and develop a genuine interest in psychology.
Some topics may also align with AQA Unit Awards. I don’t offer the awards directly, but if your young person is working with an AQA Unit Award provider, they may be able to use these classes as part of that work.
Many young people feel nervous about joining a new group, and that is completely understandable. Questions and conversation are welcome, but never expected, and no one is put on the spot. Your young person can listen first, take their time to settle in, and join in when they feel ready. Parents are also welcome to support their young person as needed.
For safeguarding, I’ll ask everyone to turn their camera on briefly when they join. Cameras can help the group feel more connected, but your young person can turn theirs off once the class begins if they feel more comfortable that way.
No. These are educational classes designed to help young people learn about psychology, wellbeing and themselves., they are not therapy or counselling sessions.
If your young person is currently working with a therapist or CAMHS, the classes may sit well alongside that support, but they are not a replacement for therapy, counselling or mental health care.
Live classes are not recorded for safeguarding reasons, so there won’t be a replay available afterwards. Please check the class dates and your availability before booking.
Separate self-led versions are planned for the future, with videos and activities young people can work through in their own time.
Self-paced sessions are coming soon for families who prefer more flexibility, or for young people who would like to explore the content in their own time before joining a live group.
If you’d like to be the first to know when they’re available, please get in touch, and I’ll keep you updated.
If you’re not sure which class to choose, or you have any questions before booking, just drop me a message, and I’ll get back to you.
