Mindfulness and Movies

Mindfulness can be much more than sitting still. In this live online course for home-educated young people aged 11–16, we’ll use movie scenes, sound, images and simple filmmaking to explore attention, notice more and experience ordinary moments differently.

Sessions take place online through Zoom. Each includes interesting discussion, movie clips, practical activities and opportunities to share ideas.

Once you book, you’ll receive a confirmation email with the joining details and anything they’ll need to bring to the session/s.

No. They don’t need to know anything about mindfulness, psychology or filmmaking before joining. Everything will be explained as we go.

No. Young people can join discussions, use the chat or listen more quietly. Sharing their finished movie is encouraged but always optional.

They will need a device for Zoom and access to a phone, tablet or simple recording device between sessions. A basic video editor is helpful, but no specialist equipment or paid software is required.

Live sessions are not recorded, so please check all four dates before booking. If your young person misses a session, they will still receive any relevant resources so they can see what was covered.

No. Young Minds classes are educational sessions designed to make psychology and wellbeing interesting, practical and enjoyable. They are not therapy or a replacement for individual mental health support.
